(DALLAS, Texas) – Dallas Animal Services is
grateful for the community’s assistance in reuniting the Great Pyrenees with
his family. The dog was found standing guard over the body of his lifelong
canine companion, a one-year-old Shepherd mix named Marley, who died after
being hit by a car. The photos created a wave of support and encouragement for
the dog through social, local and national media, reminding people that dogs
have the capability to love too.
DAS will be available for media interviews tomorrow morning, Wednesday,
November 11, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at Dallas Animal Services at 1818 N.
Westmoreland, Dallas, Texas 75212. Brian’s owners have declined media requests for interviews and are asking for privacy.
The Great Pyrenees, known as Brian, disappeared from the family home
Sunday when someone accidentally left the garage door open. Brian has been in the
care of Dallas Animal Services since Sunday, thanks to concerned citizens Jessy
Faiferlick, Julie Fennell, Samuel Flores assisted by Saving Pyrs In Need
(SPIN). SPIN is an organization that
rescues Great Pyrenees dogs. The family tells us Brian is very mild mannered
and enjoys the company of people. The family was grateful for the support of
rescuers, DAS and the community. Brian
will we be microchipped and neutered before returning home.
DAS appreciates the efforts of the community and the media
for their assistance and for helping us reunite Brian with his family. DAS
advises pet owners to ensure your dog is tagged and collared and to file a lost
pet report with your local city shelter if your pet goes missing.
