FMX Update - SPA Year-End Close and SPA/AFR Reconciliation Deadlines Approaching

Note SPA Year-End Close Processing Dates and Activities

The final State Property Accounting (SPA) system processing cycle prior to the year-end closeout will run on Wednesday evening, Aug. 31. Transaction files uploaded Sunday, Aug. 28, or Monday, Aug. 29, are scheduled to process Tuesday evening, Aug. 30. The SPA application will accept both fiscal 2011 and fiscal 2012 transactions as of Thursday, Sept. 1.

SPA/AFR Reconciliation Deadlines Approaching

State agencies (and institutions of higher education choosing to report to SPA for fiscal 2011) are annually required to reconcile SPA ending balances with their annual financial report (AFR) and submit a certification form and other documents. The due dates are as follows:

• Simplified reporting agencies electing to submit early – Sept. 28
• Full reporting agencies – Oct. 20
• Consolidated university systems – Nov. 1 (Applies only to institutions of higher education choosing to report to SPA for fiscal 2011, per changes made by the 82nd Legislature exempting institutions from reporting to SPA)
