[TEXAS TRANSPARENCY] A New Way to Look at State Government Spending

New Tool At Texas Transparency Answers
Your State Agency Spending Questions

Our office has just launched a new way to research and visualize Texas state agency expenditures.

Building on the award-winning work that went into creating the Where the Money Goes expenditure database, our newly developed visualization tool gives you an unprecedented look at state government spending.

Right off, it's easy to see which state agencies had the highest expenditures in a given year, viewable in this tool back to 2009. Then the tool's real utility is uncovered when you begin hovering your pointer over the multicolored bar graphs and start clicking around. Hovering over a bar will reveal exact expenditure amounts, and clicking a bar will "drill down" to even more extensive expenditure data.

We hope you'll visit Texas Transparency and check out the new expenditure tools soon, and feel free to offer any feedback you may have about the site and the resources you find there.

What Transparency Resources Work in Texas?

Have you ever noticed that some government data that should be publicly available is hard to find or nonexistent online? We have, too. However, some Texas government entities do a great job getting information to those who need it. With your help, we would like to spotlight those that are raising the bar in transparency.

We hope you'll take just a couple of minutes to fill out a brief questionnaire and let us know what government transparency resources and initiatives make a difference to you.
