Special Edition: Winter Storm Uri 2021

The October edition of Fiscal Notes explores Winter Storm Uri eight months after it blanketed Texas. Many still are feeling the effects as the next winter approaches. This special edition looks at the storm’s cost to the state and the legislation aimed at preventing future disruptions.

This edition also features aid organizations that already were experiencing increased need amid changing circumstances due to the pandemic. The snow and ice brought a new set of challenges. In addition, we highlight the praiseworthy efforts of those who helped rescue wildlife during and after the storm.
