Texas Comptroller in College Station for Good for Texas Tour Stop

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will visit Texas A&M University on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to discuss the institution’s cybersecurity initiatives — academics, research, workforce training and public service — as part of his Good for Texas Tour: Cybersecurity Edition.

In 2017, Texas A&M received the Defense Security Service Award for Excellence in Counterintelligence from the U.S. Department of Defense for all three National Security Agency focus areas: cyber operations, cyber defense and research.

During the visit, Hegar will share the results of a new Comptroller’s office study detailing the dangers cybercrime poses for national and personal security, as well as how Texas colleges and universities are training a strong cybersecurity workforce to deal with the ever-growing threat.

The event, which is open to the media, will be at 1 p.m. at the Zachry Engineering Education Complex (first floor, Welcome Center), 125 Spence Street, in College Station.
