Ten million annual visitors make Texas state parks a top year-round vacation favorite, according to a report commissioned by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, and their spending helps support local businesses and rural communities.

In the latest Line Items dispatch from Fiscal Notes, we examine how state parks’ tourism brings much needed revenue and jobs to diverse natural areas around the state, from the sandhills of Monahans State Park in the west to the Big Thicket forests of Daingerfield State Park in the northeast.
