The April issue of Fiscal Notes examines Texas’ water supplies and how the state works to ensure sufficient water in the future. The state’s municipal, agricultural and industrial users rely on limited sources of surface water and groundwater, making efficient management crucial. Since 1997, a state-regional planning process has guided funding to water projects throughout the state, and a 2013 amendment to the Texas Constitution should support billions in new financing for water infrastructure. |
