Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts sent this bulletin at 12/14/2011 01:51 PM CSTSECO Receives 2012 International Energy Conservation Code - Letter of Review
The State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) received the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and the 2012 International Residential Code, Chapter 11 (IRC) letter of review from Energy Systems Laboratory (ESL). The letter (PDF) is posted on the Texas Building Energy Code section of the SECO website.
According to the Health and Safety Code, Chapter 388, as new energy codes are published by the International Code Council, ESL of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station at Texas A&M University is tasked with doing a technical analysis comparing the current building energy codes with the latest published edition of the IECC. The Texas Building Energy Performance Standards are currently based on the 2009 IECC and the 2009 IRC, Chapter 11. ESL’s analysis determined both the residential and commercial provisions of the 2012 IECC are more stringent than the current code.
