In our work at the DA’s Office, we constantly seek ways to serve our community more efficiently and effectively. One of the biggest challenges prosecutors face today is the sheer volume of digital evidence each case generates. Reviewing it all thoroughly is critical to ensuring justice, but it can also slow case progress and delay outcomes for victims.
That’s why I’m proud to announce our partnership with Memphis-based Foltrigg.ai to deploy an AI-powered evidence management agent across our office. Working over many months with our prosecutors, Foltrigg, a local civic-minded tech company, designed (at no cost) this tool from the ground up specifically to help prosecutors. It organizes, searches, summarizes, and analyzes large volumes of digital evidence. Prosecutors can search it with natural language prompts. It saves time so our prosecutors can focus on the legal analysis, working with victims, a public safety generally.
Foltrigg.ai doesn’t make decisions or replace human judgment. Instead, it enhances the work our prosecutors are already doing, giving them more time to pursue justice thoroughly and efficiently. By integrating this technology into our workflows, we expect to move cases forward faster, improve outcomes for victims, and support our staff in one of the country’s busiest DA offices.
Justice is about both speed and accuracy. With Foltrigg.ai, we’re taking another step toward ensuring that every piece of evidence is reviewed carefully and every case is handled with the attention it deserves.
Woman Sentenced to 20 Years in Killing of Pastor; Wife Injured in Shooting: Assistant District Attorney Kevin McAlpin successfully handled the sentencing of Latoshia Daniels, who will serve 20 years for Second-Degree Murder and 11 months and 29 days for Reckless Endangerment. The court ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
A Shelby County jury previously convicted Daniels following a weeklong trial prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kevin McAlpin and Irris Williams.
The case stems from a shooting that killed Pastor Brodes Perry and injured his wife, Tabatha. Prosecutors presented proof that Daniels drove from Little Rock to confront the couple and shouted, “You broke my heart,” before she shot Pastor Perry. Officers subdued her with a nonlethal beanbag round when she refused to drop the gun. After her hospital release, she attempted to flee and fought officers before they took her into custody.

Judge Revokes Probation, Orders Six-Year Sentence in Robbery Case: Assistant District Attorney Jack Gould successfully handled a probation revocation hearing in Criminal Court Division 8 for defendant Key’Sean Woods. After hearing testimony, Judge Craft found that Woods violated the terms of his six-year probation and revoked his suspended sentence. The court ordered him to serve the full six years in confinement. Woods will remain in custody as he faces a pending Aggravated Robbery charge.
The violation stems from a new Aggravated Robbery charge that prosecutors advanced following a preliminary hearing in General Sessions Division 13. During the revocation hearing, the victim appeared in court and testified through an interpreter. He described how Woods confronted him and his cousin, who had traveled from South America to visit the United States, acted as though he carried a gun in his jacket pocket, and threatened to kill them if they did not hand over money. Woods took a wallet and fled toward a nearby hotel. Woods later admitted that he took the wallet.
ADA Jack Gould handled the hearing.

Antonio Bowden will serve 33 years without parole, and Jarvis Bowden will serve 25 years without parole. A third defendant remains pending and is set for trial in April.
Bowman and Hagerman resolved the case through negotiated pleas that ensured lengthy sentences and held both defendants accountable for their roles in the violent offense.
The case stems from the shooting death of Marcus Davis and the shooting of his girlfriend, Jasmine Jones, who survived her injuries. The proof established that the attack involved drug and gang-related activity.

Associate Deputy District Attorney Ernest Brooks Honored with Historical Pioneer in Law Award
ADDA Ernest Brooks received the Historical Pioneer in Law Award from the Jackson African American Chamber of Commerce during their 25th Annual Jewel Awards.
Mulroy attributed the reduction in outstanding warrants in Shelby County to the efforts of trained federal law enforcement agents. He noted that the decline in crime, which began before the task force was established, has continued throughout its operation. "I think the already downward trend in crime that we had seen well before the federal task force came has accelerated thanks to the Federal Task Force, and we should be grateful for that," he said. |BTH: DA Steve Mulroy weighs costs and benefits of Memphis Safe Task Force| via WKNO 91.1
In wake of Lucas' death, DA Mulroy offered the following statement: "I’m sorry to hear Sarah Lucas Riedel has died, and I pray for all involved. Any death is a tragedy, but this one denies the family of Danny Harris a chance for closure and justice. It also denies Andrew Hayes, who we believe was wrongfully convicted of this murder, a chance for further proof of his innocence. While we won’t be able to prosecute Ms. Riedel, we will let the court know who we believe really killed Mr. Harris." |Oklahoma woman extradited to Memphis in 2007 beating death dies in SCSO custody, DA confirms| via FOX 13
"It reviews, organizes and summarizes large volumes of digital evidence, pointing out evidence that might either help or hurt our case," Mulroy said of Foltrigg.ai. "Prosecutors have the ability to ask a question using natural language prompts. It's very user-friendly to identify specific types of information in the digital evidence." |How Shelby County DA's office is using AI to review cases, save time| via The Commercial Appeal
