Over the weekend, D.A. Mulroy, ADA Lora Fowler, and Victim Witness Coordinator, Natasha Burnett received the Civic Hero Award alongside other community leaders. The award was given by Impact Baptist Church Pastor Michael and Lady Angela Ellis to recognize their outstanding dedication and tireless efforts to serve the citizens of Memphis and Shelby County. Church Elder and County Commissioner Charlie Caswell helped present the awards.
On Monday, Dondre Bundick and Edgar Legrone were in court to provide the defense attorney with discovery after being charged with theft of property from Baptist East Memorial Hospital. Bundick and Legrone, former Baptist East employees, were captured on video surveillance taking several medical supplies totaling in over $175,000. Both defendants are out on bond and are due back in court in November for an anticipated preliminary hearing.

Dont'e Davis was in court this week for a bond hearing after receiving aggravated robbery charges, evading arrest and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Earlier this month, Davis approached the victim demanding money with a handgun tucked under his shirt. After taking $500 from the victim, he fled away on a bicycle. Days later, Davis was located with the weapon. In court, the judge allowed Davis' bond of $100,000 to remain the same. Davis is currently in custody.

Nathan Bowdrey was in court this week on a preliminary hearing after breaking into a business and stealing multiple adult toys for resale. Two days later, Bowdrey was found with the stolen items in the trunk of a stolen car. During the search of the stolen vehicle, officers located the sex toys. The store's manager was able to provide testimony regarding the products (pictured) and their value. The court found probable cause, allowing the case to proceed. Bowdrey will remain in custody.

On Saturday, October 7, as part of law enforcement’s “Faith In Blue Weekend”, Director of Community Affairs and ADA, Tracye Jones, collaborated with the Airways Station to coordinate their first Youth Mock Trial. Retired ADA Glen Baity served as the coach for the group. Criminal Court Judge Carolyn Addison not only offered her courtroom for the event, but also participated as well.

ADA Lora Fowler attended the Frayser Community Association Fall Festival last weekend. She gave out information about our office, school supplies, and McDonald's gift cards.
SCDAG ADA Accepted Into Annie E. Casey Foundation's 2023-24 Leadership Seminar
ADA Alicia Washington was recently accepted into the 2023-24 Applied Leadership Seminar for the Annie E. Casey Foundation. The 14-month program has teams from around the country including California, New York, Puerto Rico and Shelby County working together to pursue change for the youth that are involved or at risk of being involved with the legal system.
