DA's Office Update

Shelby County DA’s Office Declares Two Homes Public Nuisances

The DA’s Office announced, Tuesday the closure of two homes considered public nuisances on Lucibill Road in Whitehaven.

This Petition for Abatement of Nuisance is in response to the numerous citizen complaints of drug sales, shootings, and other criminal activity at these locations.

From May 2021 to May 2022, Memphis Police received 5,332 calls for service within a half-mile radius of these two homes.

In May of 2021, MPD responded to a shooting at 3388 Lucibill where two people were shot

In May of 2022, MPD recovered a stolen vehicle in the rear of 3268 Lucibill.

In April of 2023, MPD Organized Crime Unit executed a search warrant at 3268 Lucibill resulting in two felony drug arrests and narcotics seized.

In May of 2023, MPD responded to a double shooting at 3388 Lucibill where one victim was fatally wounded and the second victim was critically injured.

This closure is in partnership with the Memphis Police Department – Organized Crime Unit and the City Attorney’s Office.

Happening in Court

Monday, Terry Tyler, the man accused of at least four homicides in four states—including Tennessee was extradited to Memphis, where he pled guilty to life without parole in the death of Danterio Coats in 2021.

The attorney of Joel Bowman, the man accused of shooting outside school, appeared in court Monday. The bond was set at 750,000 dollars. The DA’s Office strongly opposed any bond reduction. The judge allowed the bond amount to remain at 750,000 dollars.

Office Donates School Supplies to Students in Frayser During Back-to-School Giveaways

Over the weekend ADA/Community Prosecutor Lora Fowler attended two back-to-school giveaways in Frayser where she donated school supplies to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.

DA Visits Bartlett Police Department

Bartlett police

Wednesday, the DA and members of the Office visited Bartlett Police Department  to discuss public safety and sharing information between municipalities and the DA's Office. 

DA Joins Lawmakers and Leaders to Discuss Gun Control

DA Mulroy and several lawmakers and advocates gathered at the National Civil Rights Museum, Wednesday for the first stop of the state legislative bus tour to promote sensible gun reform and legislation at the upcoming special legislative session to take place August 21.
