DA Mulroy to Hold Community Town Hall Series

town halls

DA Mulroy wants to hear from the residents of Shelby County. He plans to host a series of public forums in different communities throughout the county, beginning with a Community Town Hall on Thursday, April 27th at Impact Baptist Church in Frayser. All community members are welcome to attend.

SML

Last week, DA Mulroy visited Nashville and met with a number of state officials, including the Governor’s Chief of Staff, and Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (pictured right, on the left, with TN Senator Brent Taylor and DA Mulroy), to discuss criminal justice legislation and DA Office budget priorities.

April is Second Chance Month

job fair

SCDAG staff participated in the Second Chance Job and Resource Fair with the American Job Center and America Works. The fair is designed to help citizens with expungement of criminal records, drivers’ license issues, child support, job training, employment opportunities, and more. Even a brief power outage couldn't stop our work!

surprise

The SCDAG Office staff conspired to throw a Star Trek-themed surprise early birthday party for DA Mulroy last week. More than 80 staff contributed. Pictured right, DA Mulroy giving the "vulcan salute."

Walton

This week, ADA Alicia Walton (pictured left) began work with Vertical Team 5. She practiced for more than a decade as a Public Defender with the Pulaski County Public Defender Office in Arkansas. Also this week, ADA Jean Holbert joined the DUI Unit. She has more than 14 years of experience, and most recently worked as a Lead Attorney at the Reaves Law Firm.

This is the same training used by TBI to train officers, and helps prosecutors appreciate the kinds of quick decisions law enforcement must make regarding use of force. So far, 45 SCDAG staff have completed the training.

SCDAG Office in the News

From WREG News Channel 3: Mulroy announces some changes at DA’s office

"Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy hosted a press conference on Thursday, announcing some changes in how his office interacts with the public. He also addresses rampant business burglaries that are frustrating business owners in the city. Mulroy says these are coordinated group efforts. In the past, his staff might’ve missed how some burglaries were connected. But that will change, with the goal of building a stronger case. “We’re going to make sure we route all those cases to centralized prosecutors, people who are going to develop expertise on who the repeat players are,” Mulroy said.
