Storm Damage/NES

Last night, another powerful storm came through our city, this time levying a significant impact to our District.  As I traveled throughout the district, I came across a number of neighbors dealing with downed trees, many who had those trees fall on their homes and create significant damage forcing them to seek shelter elsewhere.  I also encountered a number of downed trees blocking major streets which also took power lines down with them.

I spoke with NES officials last night and they informed me that over 130,000 homes and businesses lost power.  Our district was hit particularly hard with power loss due to the number of trees which actually impacted power lines.

I have heard from some who got power restored during the night and early morning.  NES officials indicate most can expect power to be restored sometime today.  I am thankful that those of us without power at least are spared having to deal with this in extreme temperatures.

Many of our neighbors received significant damage in the storm.  If you have some time today, I know they could use help.  I am not aware of any casualties, so we seem to have dodged that thankfully.

I'll let you know any updates as I received them.
