SPPD investigating Sunday afternoon shooting death

 

A Saint Paulwoman is dead after being shot Sunday afternoon in the 900 block of Reaney Avenue.

 

Saint Paul police were first called to the area about 2:45 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they discovered that a young adult woman had been fatally wounded while sitting in a vehicle in an alley.

 

Investigators are working to determine what took place in the moments leading up to the shooting, including who may have been inside the vehicle with the woman at the time of the shooting.

 

Investigators continue to develop and follow leads regarding this shooting. At this time there is nothing to indicate that the shooting was the result of a random act.

 

Although officers have preliminary identification information regarding the victim, investigators will be working with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office to positively establish her identify before it is made public by the police department.

 

No further information regarding this homicide is expected until Monday afternoon at the earliest. In the event that new information becomes available, it will first be publicized through the Saint Paul Police Department’s Twitter account, @sppdpio, using the hashtag #sppdhomicide.
