A Historic Moment: Bringing Baseball Back to Rondo!
There was a time when baseball thrived in Rondo—when the crack of the bat echoed through the streets, kids raced across dirt fields, and elders gathered on the sidelines, cheering for the next generation of players. Baseball was more than a game; it was community, pride, and tradition. Our neighborhood produced legends—players who embodied the spirit of the Negro Leagues, mentors who taught discipline, teamwork, and resilience. But when urban renewal tore through Rondo, the fields disappeared, and with them, a piece of our history. Now, it’s time to bring baseball back. To give our youth the same joy, opportunity, and sense of belonging that past generations once had. This isn’t just about the sport—it’s about reviving a legacy and strengthening our community.
This free community event is more than just a gathering—it’s a movement to restore baseball as a unifying force in Rondo, creating opportunities for youth, families, and the entire community to enjoy.
