Dear Neighbors,
As Black History Month comes to an end, our commitment to making history in Saint Paul does not. This month was a powerful reminder of the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black leaders—past and present—who have shaped our city and nation.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated in community, whether through an act of kindness for a neighbor, attending an event, or learning about an African American figure in history. Your engagement keeps our shared history alive and inspires the future we are building together.
We look forward to continuing to serve you and working toward a more just, inclusive, and thriving Saint Paul for all.
Free Transportation for Afterschool Programs – The Loop
The Loop offers kids and teens (ages 6-18) access to a variety of free afterschool activities in their community. For youth ages 10-18, The Loop Van provides safe transportation between libraries and community centers in the Rondo and Frogtown neighborhoods.
Why The Loop is a Game-Changer:
✅ Safe Rides: Trusted City employees who work with young people provide transportation. ✅ Programs You’ll Love: From tutoring and teen hangouts to cultural programs, there’s something for everyone. ✅ Community Connections: We partner with local organizations to celebrate and uplift diverse backgrounds. ✅ Family Events: Special family nights ensure everyone feels included.
The Loop is a collaborative program from Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and Saint Paul Public Library. Learn more at SPPL.org.

MN Legislator's POCI Caucus Listening Session
Members of the Minnesota House People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus hosted a community town hall. The 2025 legislative session and the potential negative impacts on vulnerable, historically underserved communities were discussed. The Caucus engaged with community leaders, advocates, and constituents to hear about key issues and legislation they want championed, while also answering questions and gathering valuable feedback. Council Member Bowie was there testifying in support of the expansion of Jimmy Lee Community Recreation Center and the work of the JK Movement Youth Program.
Community Conversation on United Village's Future Development
Thank you to everyone who joined Ward 1 and the district council's community conversation on the ongoing development for United Village in the Midway neighborhood. We heard from Dr. Bill McGuire, the principal owner of the development addressed community concerns regarding safety, accessibility, and the new business ventures coming to the area. It was an informative conversation, and we’re excited about collaborating as a team to overcome challenges and embrace the opportunities this project will bring. Let’s make this happen!
