PolarPalooza at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory 

Como’s the cool place to be this Presidents’ Day weekend for PolarPalooza. Enjoy the fun and participate in interactive and educational activities featuring creative crafts, animal enrichment, games, interactive stations, and more! Make sure to visit the Xcel Energy station to learn about the small steps you can take at home to help conserve energy and make a big difference for the plants and animals we all love.

Other programs happening at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory:

  • Camp Como is back: 2024 camp offerings are now listed on our website. Scholarships are available. Check them out now to help plan your summer. Registration will open soon so stay tuned for that announcement!
  • School programs: School programs are now being offered for PreK-6th grade. These programs are offered at Como or your school! Bus scholarships are available when booking a program at Como.
  • Adult program, Orchid Odyssey: Learn about Como's orchid collection, meet a gardener that cares for orchids, and get a behind-the-scenes look at our exclusive orchid house! February 25th, 8:30 am-10:00 am. Cost is $25 per person.

Right Track applications for youth employees (also looking for employers to host an intern!)

Right Track provides paid summer internships for Saint Paul youth ages 14-21 who come from cost burdened households or have a barrier to employment. Right Track internships begin in June and run 6 to 9 weeks, depending on the position. Apply online through February 29. We are also seeking additional employers and businesses to host a Right Track intern!

Girls basketball camp

FLEX Basketball Camp: free for ages 7-18

This spring, we are offering a very special FREE basketball clinic for girls and female-identifying individuals ages 7-18. In partnership with HealthPartners and Penumbra Theatre Company, this three Saturday clinic will focus on health, nutrition, and basketball skills and drills. Each week builds on the previous week's class, sharpening participant's skill set as a competitive basketball player. Visits from surprise guests will activate opportunities for sports, artistry, activism, and healing. All skill levels are welcome! Registration is required. 

On May 5, attendees 14 years and older* are invited to attend a performance of “Flex.” Transportation will be provided from Jimmy Lee to Penumbra Theatre and back. *Under 14 years permitted with parent approval

Applications are now open for summer 2024 Music in the Parks performers at Mears Park and Como Lakeside Pavilion. Visit the Music in the Parks webpage for more information and to apply.

Adaptive Recreation programming 

Adaptive Recreation provides a comprehensive recreational program for Saint Paul residents of all ages who have physical and/or developmental disabilities. Activities include bowling, fitness, wiffleball, indoor lawn games, a Spring Fling dance, and more! Schedules for March and April programming are available, with a few February activities remaining!

Seasonal Updates

  • Staff are working to prepare outdoor courts for use. Opening dates for individual locations will vary depending on cleaning and maintenance needs.
  • All ice rinks are closed for the season. For your safety and to prevent damage to our athletic fields, please do not enter closed rinks. Never use rink areas as a dog park. Please visit one of our dog parks for off-leash fun.
  • Como Park Ski Center is closed for the season. Lesson participants will automatically receive a prorated refund. Please allow time for processing.
Frogtown Park and Farm

Seeking proposals for a management partner at Frogtown Park and Farm

Saint Paul is seeking proposals for a management partner at Frogtown Park and Farm. Frogtown Park and Farm is a unique landmark that has been feeding the community - in more ways than one -  since 2016. Proposals are due April 16, 2024.
