Assembly Union Park is now open

Last Saturday, we celebrated the grand opening of Assembly Union Park, a brand-new 1.55 acre park at the Highland Bridge development. The new park features a large play area, basketball court, picnic tables, and three pickleball courts. The new pickleball courts are the first dedicated courts of their kind within Saint Paul’s park system. Watch the Grand Opening Video

Japanese Obon Festival

Martial arts, singing, dancing, drumming, delicious food and other aspects of Japanese culture, will be featured at the annual Como Park Japanese Obon Festival, a family-friendly event, reminiscent of Japan’s annual Obon holiday, on Sunday, August 20 on the grounds of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory from 3-9pm. Tickets are $5 for ages 13+, $3 for ages 3-12, and free for ages 65+ and children under 3. Advanced ticket purchase is required. 

Camp Como

Is the end of summer sneaking up on you? Running short on ideas to fill those late summer weeks before school? Camp Como is back with three weeks of programming to get you to the finish line! Como’s camps focus on developing children’s appreciation for the natural world through play and exploration, unique Como experiences, interactions with zookeepers and gardeners, and up-close encounters with plants and animals. 

Youth summer programs

Choose from a variety of fun and safe summer programming options for youth. Register today as some camps and activities have limited spots remaining. 

• Summer camps and activities: Full and half-day camps for youth of all ages. Costs range from free up to $275.
• Summer Rec Check: Free program for those entering grades 1-6 this fall on Monday-Thursday from 1-4pm at 23 sites. 
• Summer S'more Fun: $42/day for those entering grades 1-6 this fall on Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm at 3 sites. Limited spots available.
• Recreation in Motion: Recreation in Motion brings outdoor summer fun to your neighborhood! A free youth program offering athletic programs, arts and crafts, and other organized activities. No pre-registration is required. 
• Nature Pop-ups: Join the Recreation in Motion team for drop-in hiking, fishing, paddle sports, crafts, games and more! No pre-registration necessary -  just stop by!
• Swimming Lessons: Our last summer swimming lessons (session 4) start on August 7. Register online today. 

Music & Movies in the Parks

Come enjoy an outdoor show in Saint Paul's beautiful parks. Music in the Parks has kicked off for the season and Movies in the Parks starts in July. All shows are free unless otherwise noted.
