Groundbreaking at The Heights
Hayden Heights Library and Rep Betty McCollum
This past Tuesday, Council Member Yang visited Hayden Heights Library (1456 White Bear Ave N) to speak with House Representative Betty McCollum about funding for Hayden Heights Library renovations. Responding to the needs of the East Side, renderings by LSE Architects and lead architect Mohammed Lawal includes designs for enhanced safety for everyone who uses the library, more green space, play opportunities, and investments in technology and the comfort of staff. CM Yang expressed the importance of having the library’s design catering to the needs of East Side residents. We love our libraries!
Cultural STAR Info Sessions
The Cultural STAR program provides grants for arts and cultural programming and organizations within the City of Saint Paul.
Want to learn more about the program and what makes a successful application? Reserve your spot for an upcoming info session about the 2023 application cycle:
- Wednesday, July 5th, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Virtual session (link to join)
- Thursday, July 6th, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Rondo Community Library Multipurpose Room
- Wednesday, July 12th, 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. George Latimer Central Library Andy Boss Community Room (4th floor)
Applications are open for the 2023 funding round. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, July 21 at 4 p.m.

Free Meals for Kids and Teens
Summer meals are available at NO COST to kids 18 and under, or those over 18 with a disability enrolled in a school program.
SPPS Nutrition Services’ food truck will serve meals at daily locations from June 26 to August 18.

Saint Paul Business Awards
Starting on Monday, July 3, 2023, the Saint Paul City Council will once again accept nominations and applications for the Business Awards. These awards are part of the City Council's ongoing Open for Business initiative, which began in 2015 with the aim of enhancing Saint Paul's business environment and making it an even more attractive place for commerce.
In 2022, the City Council recognized ABC Realty LLC, Hmong Village Shopping Center, Mr. Michael Recycles Bicycles, NEOO Partners Inc., and Selby Wines & Spirits Inc.
