North End Community Center

Following community engagement and project design in 2019 and 2020, this project is now under construction!

The North End Community Center is a $20 million project, and it includes construction of a new 25,000 square foot building and enhancements to the existing 6-acre park in Saint Paul's North End neighborhood. The new building will be located at 145 Lawson Avenue West, near the Rice Street Library and directly across the park from Wellstone Elementary School.

Paint the Pavement - Public Art Opportunity!

Community Art Installation

The Greater East Side/District 2 Community Council is seeking an artist or collaborative team to design and create artwork that can be painted on the intersection of Kennard and Ivy near Prosperity Park. This project aims to slow traffic which has become an issue due to it's proximity to major roads (White Bear Avenue and Maryland Avenue) as well as the park and reflect the neighborhood.

The artist will work with the community to design a mural to be painted by volunteers in June of 2023.District Council staff will assist the artist in engagement and volunteer recruitment for the implementation of the design.

It is highly recommended that artists visit the site in person prior to design to better envision the project. All designs must meet community as well as City Public Works staff approval and must be original and without inclusion of copyrighted graphics or logos. The selected artist or team will be awarded $6,000 to complete the project. This amount must cover all costs, including artist fee, materials, and artist insurance.
