 Summer is here and that means pools and beaches are opening up. Here is the latest and greatest info on what's happening around the city.
Pools - Highland Park Aquatic Center and Como Pool open for the regular season June 11th. Great River Water Park will not be open during the summer, and may have adjusted hours over the weekend as staff transition to outdoor swimming locations.
Phalen Beach - Phalen Beach also opens for the season on Saturday, June 11th.
Splash Pads - All Splash pads will open with regular hours June 11th.
Swimming lessons - Registration for summer swimming lessons at Como Pool and Highland Park Aquatic Center are open.
Aquatics memberships - Summer aquatics memberships are available for purchase online.
Sailing lessons - Sailing lesson registration is open. Learn to sale on Lake Phalen! Classes are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for safe recreational sailing.
Paddleshare - Mississippi River Paddle Share is open for the 2022 season! Experience the city from a new perspective. Reservations can be made up to 21 days in advance. The Pickerel Lake station in Lilydale regional Park will open June 6th.
 For over 20 years, the City has partnered with local district councils to organize annual Citywide Recycling Drop-off events. Residents can properly dispose of large items and recycle materials not collected in the residential collection program. For information, visit:

This year, there will be two events:
June 18 - Harding High School (1540 E 6th St)
September 17 - MN State Fairgrounds (northeast corner of grounds)
All events will accept the following for a small fee: mattresses, appliances, electronics and tires.
All events will accept the following for FREE: confidential papers for shredding, cardboard (large,flattened), and scrap metal.
