Youth Job Corps Program Provides Skills Necessary for Future Careers
SAINT PAUL, Feb. 24, 2012 — Applications for the City of Saint Paul’s Youth Job Corps program will be available March 5, 2012 on the City’s web page, www.stpaul.gov/jobs. Interested individuals should submit an application no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012.
The Youth Job Corps (YJC) program is designed for economically disadvantaged or at-risk Saint Paul youth and young adults ages 14-24 who are interested in summer employment and career exploration. The jobs created through YJC provide needed community services during the summer months with work sites scattered throughout the City. Qualified candidates for this program will have the opportunity to work in a variety of industries
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Economically disadvantaged or at-risk Saint Paul youth, ages 14 to 24.
WHAT ARE THE WAGES?
Youth ages 14-18 are paid $7.25 an hour and youth ages 19-24 are paid $7.50 an hour
HOW MANY HOURS DO YJC WORKERS WORK?
YJC workers average 15 hours per week
WHEN DOES IT START?
Most jobs will begin June 18, 2012 and end August 24, 2012

All applications will be required to be completed and submitted online at www.stpaul.gov/jobs. Youth without access to a computer, or in need of assistance applying, can visit their local recreation center, library, or school.
The YJC program started in January of 2004 and has since employed and helped provide valuable career skills for more than 4,500 Saint Paul youth.
