Summit Ave. Regional Trail Master Plan

We're engaging with community members to inform and develop a master plan for a regional trail along Summit Ave. from the Mississippi River to Downtown Saint Paul. Visit engagestpaul.org/summit to share your ideas, take a survey, stay informed and connect with City staff.

MEA Break: Rec Check Extended

Registration is now open for our Rec Check Extended MEA Break and Winter Break program. Rec Check Extended is for youth in grades 1-5 and runs from 8:30am-5pm, Oct. 21-22 and Dec. 22-23, 27-30 at Edgcumbe, Frogtown, and Hazel Park. Cost is $10/day. Thrive Outside Initiative 

Wilderness Inquiry is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible outdoor experience for all through the Thrive Outside Initiative. Get involved or share your input by filling out their interest form or stopping by their tent at Theodore Wirth Park on Saturday, October 9 between 10am-2pm. The first 50 people to speak with them about Thrive Outside will receive an REI Nalgene bottle.

 

Great River Water Park

Swimming Lessons and Aquatics Memberships

Great River Water Park at Oxford Community Center has reopened. Memberships are on sale now and registration for fall swimming lessons is open. Visit the website for hours for open swim, lap swim and water aerobics. 

 

Wakan Tipi Center Rendering

Uŋči Maká Wóabdezapi | Recognizing Mother Earth: A Wakan Tipi Center Celebration and Ceremony

Join us on Indigenous People's Day, Monday, October 11 from 4-6pm at Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary (265 Commercial St.), as we celebrate the first phase of construction for Wakaŋ Tipi Center, alongside Lakota elders, local leaders and the Lower Phalen Creek Project. All are welcome. Please register online for the event.

General Updates & Reminders

  • Wolves are back at Como Zoo! Leading up to Wolf Awareness Week (October 17-23), Como is excited to welcome two new resident wolves into Como’s Wolf Woods habitat, and announce the opening of a new wolf traveling exhibit.
  • All recreation centers are open. See our new fall hours. Masks are required to be worn while inside all recreation center buildings. 
  • Pre-registration is no longer required for open gym. Check our open gym schedules for upcoming youth, teen, and adult programs including pickleball, basketball, volleyball, badminton and more.
