St Paul Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission hosting Limited English Proficiency Summit
The Saint Paul Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission (PCIARC) will host the PCIARC Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Summit on Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. The PCIARC makes disciplinary and policy recommendations to the Saint Paul Chief of Police on civilian initiated police conduct complaints. Attend the summit to learn about the complaint review process, meet the commissioners, and have some food and music. The PCIARC LEP event welcomes all, especially those who primarily speak languages other than English. Register online or contact the PCIARC at civilianreview@ci.stpaul.mn.us.
What is the PCIARC? The Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission (PCIARC) reviews and makes disciplinary and policy recommendations to the Saint Paul Chief of Police on all civilian initiated police conduct complaints. Composed of up to nine Saint Paul residents, the commission is essential to the trust between police and the communities they serve. The PCIARC does not replace civil or criminal court, but makes recommendations to the chief of police regarding investigation findings and potential discipline, subject to the Minnesota Peace Officer Discipline Procedures Act and related state labor laws. The chief of police has the final authority over any disciplinary action imposed against a police officer.
How do I file a complaint for the PCIARC to review? Go to www.stpaul.gov/departments/human-rights-equal-economic-opportunity/police-civilian-internal-affairs-review
