The 35th annual Citywide Spring Cleanup and launch of a new national, app-based plastic pollution initiative is this Saturday, April 24 from 9am-11:30am. Individuals and groups of all ages can register online to clean-up Saint Paul parks and neighborhoods and be part of an important community science project.

"Summer Blast" is now "Summer Rec Check"
Registration for Summer Rec Check, (formerly known as Summer Blast) is now open. Summer Rec Check still has everything you love about our previous Blast program, but with a new name! Activities include crafts, art, tennis, cooking, swimming, gym games, water fun, outdoor nature activities, outdoor play, fitness, kitchen science, field trips and more. A daily snack is provided. Space is also still available at some S'more Fun and Recreation for Preschoolers locations.

Highland Bridge park names announced; Open house rescheduled for May 12
On Wednesday, the City of Saint Paul announced the names of four new city park spaces located within the Highland Bridge development project. Join Councilmember Tolbert and Saint Paul Parks and Recreation staff for a virtual open house on Wednesday, May 12 at 6:30pm to learn more about the future parks. The names of the four future parks are as follows:

Gateway Park (A reference to the location of the park as an important entry point to the city and the Highland Bridge development)

Assembly Union Park (In recognition of the site’s industrial history and those who worked at Ford Motor Company, and specifically the importance of the workforce within the union labor movement and as contributing members of the surrounding communities)

Uŋči Makȟa Park (“Mother Earth” in Dakota) Pronounced oon-CHEE Ma-KAH

Míča Park (abbreviation for “coyote” in Dakota) Pronounced MEE-cha
Construction on the new parks is slated to begin later this year.

Four city streets temporarily closed to support physically distant outdoor activities this spring and summer
Four Saint Paul streets are now closed to vehicle traffic to support physically distant outdoor activities throughout spring and summer. The closures support walking and biking in and around three City of Saint Paul parks areas including Como Regional Park, Phalen Regional Park and Cherokee Regional Park, as well as the southbound vehicle lane along Mississippi River Boulevard. - Ready to get back into our recreation centers? Many sites are open for programs including dance, open gym, pickleball, batting cages, tot time, fitness rooms, walking tracks, open basketball, soccer and more, but advanced registration is required.

Great River Water Park is currently open, but will be closed during the Summer 2021 season. We are preparing to open our splash pads, Highland Park Aquatic Center, Como Regional Park Pool, and Phalen Beach on June 12, 2021. We are currently evaluating our aquatics hours, rates, and membership structure and will share more information at www.stpaul.gov/aquatics as it becomes available.

Golf at Highland National, Highland 9, Phalen, Como and the Highland driving range has resumed. Tee times can be made online.
- Outdoor courts and skate parks have reopened for the season. Use our amenities map to find an outdoor court near you.
- Youth summer sports registration for t-ball, machine pitch, baseball, softball and lacrosse closed on March 31. Those who still wish to register may contact a recreation center directly to see if space is still available.

Adult summer softball registration is now open for new and returning teams.
Dock & Paddle Happy Hour
Dock & Paddle is now open 7-days-a-week, with specials every day and daily happy hour from 3pm-5pm!

Community healing circles scheduled to support health and wellbeing
Residents are invited to attend a series of virtual and in-person community healing circles to address the hurt and trauma caused by the killing of George Floyd last summer and civil unrest that followed, the ongoing trial and the recent killing of Daunte Wright.
