The Great River Passage Initiative has been bringing the river into Saint Paul’s neighborhoods this summer with activities and events for all ages. Catch us this August at the following events!
 Opening Event: Urban Roots Story Gathering and Photo Exhibit

Join us for an evening of photography and community conversation in partnership with Urban Roots Youth Council and the other media group (omg), and produced by Saint Paul’s Great River Passage Initiative (GRPI).
This event culminates six weeks of the Urban Roots Youth Council engaging with East Side communities in conversation about their relationships to the Mississippi River and the natural world. These conversations are on display as a photo series at this FREE Community event. Learn more and RSVP here, and be sure to share the invite with others!
This pilot project is part of an ongoing effort to learn alongside our neighbors through community-led storytelling and artmaking, and will inform the development of future GRPI programs and projects to connect people to the river. Safe Summer Nights
The Great River Passage Initiative is attending the Saint Paul Police Department’s Safe Summer Nights events this year. Join us every Thursday this month to talk about the river and get a map of Saint Paul’s stretch of the Mississippi River painted on your arm! About Great River Passage
In 2013 the City of Saint Paul developed the Great River Passage Plan, a comprehensive framework for creating vibrancy in the city’s 3,500 acres of parkland along the river. The Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department is now implementing the next phase of the Great River Passage – a bold, strategic vision to steward and tap into the potential of the 26 miles of riverfront in Saint Paul. By implementing the plan, the city will create places and activities that strengthen existing connections and create new ones along the Mississippi. Learn more at GreatRiverPassage.org.
