City of Saint Paul outdoor pools set to open
Nice weather on the way for opening weekend
SAINT PAUL: School is almost out for summer, nice weather is on the way, and outdoor pools in Saint Paul are ready to open. Como Park Regional Pool and Highland Park Aquatic Center kick off the 2018 season this Saturday, June 9. Open swim begins at 11 a.m. at both pools and goes until 7 p.m. Both locations feature splash pads, lap pools, children's pools, diving boards, climbing walls, water slides, concessions, and locker rooms. Como Pool also features a zip-line and lazy river.
Phalen Beach also kicks off its season on Saturday. Daily hours at Phalen Beach this summer are 1-7 p.m. for open swim and 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. for the splash pad. There is no cost to swim or use the splash pad at Phalen Beach.
Tot Time at Como Pool is back by popular demand. Tot Time will take place every Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m., beginning June 9. Admission is $8 for one parent and child pair, a savings of $5. Each additional child is $4 and all children must be 0-6 years old. Only the splash pad will be open for Tot Time. Concessions are closed during this time. Everyone is welcome to stay for open swim at 11 a.m. at no extra cost.
Pool admission rates:
- Under 48" $6
- Over 48" $7
- Family (Up to 5 people, $4 for additional members) $24
- Deck Fee (For non-swimmers) $4
Great River Water Park at Oxford Community Center will close for the summer on July 4 in order to install a new play feature in the kid pool and perform scheduled maintenance to other parts of the facility. It is expected to reopen September 4, and we encourage people to utilize our outdoor pools, beach, and splash-pads during that time. We will also make sure that swim lessons, water aerobics, lap swim, and general open swim that cannot happen at Great River Water Park over the summer will be accommodated as best as possible at our outdoor sites.
Summer aquatics memberships and punch cards are available online. To help make entry to the pools as quick as possible, those who have purchased memberships online are encouraged to pick up their cards in advance at Great River Water Park.
Visit www.stpaul.gov/aquatics for a schedule of hours and activities as well as information about swimming lessons and sailing classes.
