Description of Variance:
Location: Event will be located outdoors in the street in front of Meritage Restaurant, 410 St Peter Street , with stage music at Hamm Plaza, 99 6th Street West
Noise Source: Meritage Restaurant has applied for a sound level variance, at a requested sound level limit of 85 dBA at no specified distance in order to provide outdoor music on stage at Hamm Plaza, 99 6th Street West, by Meritage Restaurant, 410 Saint Peter Street during their Oysterfest 2017, on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a pre-event sound check at 11:00 a.m. The Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) recommends the following conditions: 1) The Variance shall be for the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a pre-event sound check at 11:00 a.m. for live music outdoors at Hamm Plaza, 99 6th Street West, on Sunday, October 8, 2017. 2) All electronically powered equipment used in conjunction with the event shall not exceed 85 dBA as measured 50 feet from any sound source used for amplified music and/or announcements. 3) The applicant shall provide personnel and equipment to ensure compliance with the sound level variance conditions. 4) All electronically powered equipment, PA systems, loudspeakers or similar devices shall be turned off no later than 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
A public hearing before the City Council on this variance request will be held on:

If you attend the public hearing, you will be given the opportunity to present verbal comments or objections before the City Council. If you are unable to attend the public hearing, you may within fifteen (15) days of the mailing date on this notice, submit written comments or objections with the City of St. Paul, Department of Safety and Inspections, 375 Jackson Street, Suite 220, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55101-1806, attention Barb McMonigal-St. Dennis or by email to barb.mcmonigal-st.dennis@ci.stpaul.mn.us. Written comments or objections must be received on or before Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
