Environmental Assessment Worksheet Released for Fillmore West Apartments
SAINT PAUL – The City of Saint Paul, as the responsible governmental unit (RGU), has released an environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) for the proposed construction of a phased, mixed-use development on a 13.4-acre site south and west of E. Fillmore Ave. and S. Robert St. in Saint Paul.
Notice of availability was published by the Environmental Quality Board in the EQB Monitor on Monday, May 8, 2017. The thirty (30) day comment period will conclude at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. The State of Minnesota requires an EAW for residential developments that have more than 375 multi-family units (Minnesota Rules 4410.4300, Subp. 19).
The majority of the project site is currently vacant. The portion of the site along Robert Street is occupied by surface parking, and several small commercial buildings. When completed, the phased project is anticipated to include 640-830 apartment units and 30,000-80,000 square feet of retail space.
A copy of the EAW is available upon request at the Department of Planning and Economic Development on the 13th floor of the City Hall Annex at 25 W. Fourth St., Saint Paul, MN 55102. It is also available at the Central (downtown) and Riverview branches of the Saint Paul Public Library. It can also be viewed online.
Comments on the EAW can be emailed to josh.williams@ci.stpaul.mn.us. Please include “Comments: Fillmore West EAW” in the subject line of all emails. Comments may also be sent by U.S. Mail to Josh Williams, City of Saint Paul – PED, 25 W. Fourth St., Suite 1300, Saint Paul, MN 55102.
