Volunteer at the Langford Winter Classic!

January 16th and January 17th

Hello Friends of Langford Park Youth Sports!

We are very excited about the soon-approaching Langford Park Winter Classic Hockey and Basketball Tournaments! We have really strong programs this year and a lot of dedicated families.  Because of this, our number of athletes has increased. We decided to spread the tournament out over two weekends rather than host both sports in one weekend. We have many, many volunteer needs January 7th-17th.  The descriptions are listed below.

The Winter Classic is a long-standing tradition in St. Anthony Park - this year is our 57th year!  In addition to making great tournament fun and winter memories, funds raised from Winter Classic concessions and donations support the Basketball and Hockey programs as well as many other Langford Park Rec Center programs.  Programs such as: Summer Blast, Movies in the Park, Ice Cream Socials, activities for Senior Citizens, extended gym and skating hours, rec center equipment (ie: popcorn machine, stove, and microwave), and contributions to parties and trophies for ALL Langford Park youth sports.

Tournament Details

January 16-17:  Join us for 10U and 12U  boys basketball tournaments. 10U will play at the Langford Park Rec Center and 12U will play games at Merriam Park Rec Center. Although we’re spread between two places, this year we’ll have more room to move around Langford and watch the games.  

The 10U Girls Langford Basketball teams will be kicking off the tournament with a scrimmage against White Bear on Friday, January 15 at 6pm at Langford. On Saturday, starting at 2:30 pm, the Langford 10U Girls teams will participate in a scrimmage and skills competition. Come support and cheer them on!

If you’ve never volunteered at this event before, the kitchen is a really fun place to start. It’s staffed with several people at a time and provides opportunities to interact with the athletes and families.
