Description of Variance:

Location:   John P Monahan Plaza, University of St Thomas, 2115 Summit Avenue

 

Noise Source:   The University of St Thomas, represented by Krysten Edwards, Assistant Director of Campus Life, has requested a sound level variance in order to present amplified music at the John P Monahan Plaza at 2115 Summit Avenue for a 6:00 p.m. Sound Check, and Music on the Plaza Concert Event from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015. The Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) recommends the following conditions: 1. The variance shall be for the hours of 6:00 p.m. for a Sound Check, and Music on the Plaza from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on September 19, 2015. 2. All electronically powered equipment used in conjunction with the event shall not exceed 85 dBA as measured at 50 feet from the sound source. 3. The applicant shall provide personnel and equipment to monitor sound level limits as specified in Condition #2. 4. All electronically powered equipment, PA systems, loudspeakers or similar devices shall be turned off no later than 9:00 p.m. on the event date.
