Saint Paul Public Library Kicks Off Summer Spark
Program formerly known as Summer Reading Program encourages learning throughout summer
SAINT PAUL – The Saint Paul Public Library’s Summer Spark program has begun. The program runs June through August and is for youth ages 0-18. Summer Spark encourages learning throughout the summer by challenging youth to read and complete educational activities. The program also features free and fun educational programs at all 13 Saint Paul Public Library locations throughout the summer.
New Name
For many years, it's been called Summer Reading Program. The library renamed the program Summer Spark because it hopes to engage kids more deeply, encouraging learning and activity in addition to and beyond reading.
Kickoff Event
The library will host a kickoff party Saturday, June 13, 11:30-1:00 at Merriam Park Library, 1831 Marshall Ave, 651-642-0385.
Learning for Prizes
When kids read (alone or with someone else) and/or complete fun activities, they earn book prizes of their choice and are entered into drawings for prizes. Children’s prizes include family memberships to the Minnesota Science Museum or the Minnesota Children's Museum. Teen prizes include gift cards to MetroTransit, Chipotle, Mann Theaters, GameStop, and Superamerica.
Families should visit their nearest Saint Paul Public Library location to pick up Summer Spark activity logs.
Events
All summer long, kids can attend free, fun programs at every Saint Paul Public Library location.
