Mayor Coleman to join Exeter Group for Custom House groundbreaking

SAINT PAUL -- Mayor Chris Coleman will join the Exeter Group and other local leaders to break ground this Wednesday at Custom House St. Paul.

The event will feature remarks on the project by Mayor Coleman. Other speakers will include Jim Stolpestad of the Exeter Group and a representative from Lodgeworks, operator of the Hyatt Place Hotel.

“Finally breaking ground on this great project is a milestone moment for Lowertown, for downtown and for our entire city,” said Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman. “That Jim and his team are investing in a new hotel and additional housing options is further evidence of the incredible momentum here in Saint Paul."

Custom House is currently six months into construction, with an anticipated opening for spring of 2016. This redevelopment of the former U.S. Post Office and Custom House building has secured National Park Service approval to list the property on the National Register of Historic Places and to convert the building to historically-compatible residential apartments, hotel, and a variety of supporting mixed uses.
