Death Investigation

On September 12, 2026, at approximately 3:49 am, Stearns County Jail staff, while conducting well-being checks on inmates, discovered an inmate having a medical emergency in his cell. The inmate identified as Isiah Oluwasheun Ero-Phillips, DOB 12/07/1991, was found unresponsive. Correctional Officer staff immediately began life-saving measures for Mr. Ero-Phillips and Mayo Ambulance, along with St. Cloud Fire/Rescue arrived to continue this process. Mr. Ero-Phillips was later pronounced deceased by Mayo Ambulance staff. Mr. Ero-Phillips was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

Mr. Ero-Phillips was arrested by the St. Cloud Police Department for felony domestic assault and brought to the Stearns County Jail at approximately 9:05 am on September 11, 2026. At the time of his intake, he was heavily intoxicated.

The MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Force Unit was contacted and responded to the jail to take over the investigation. This is routine in these matters, and the investigation is on-going at this time.
