Single Vehicle Crash

On August 16, 2026, at approximately 4:30 A.M., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a one vehicle rollover crash on County Road 48 near 140th Street in Kimball. The caller reported a silver truck was on its side in the ditch. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Watkins Fire and Rescue, and Watkins Ambulance responded to the scene. Deputies were able to extricate two injured occupants by removing the windshield of the truck. The driver of the truck, identified as Lyman Fuchs, 24, of Eden Valley, reported he had fallen asleep behind the wheel while driving southbound on County Road 48. The truck entered the ditch before striking a driveway approach, re-entered the ditch, struck a road approach, and then swerved back across County Road 48 and began rolling. The vehicle ultimately struck a road sign before coming to rest on the driver’s side in the west ditch. Fuchs was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. The passenger was identified as Shelby Edwards, 22, of Litchfield, and was not wearing a seatbelt.  She suffered substantial, but non-life-threatening injuries. Both occupants were transported by Watkins Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
