Single-Vehicle Crash

On November 6, 2023, at approximately 5:24 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received the report of a crash near the address of 16894 County Road 49 in Wakefield Township. The caller reported the vehicle, a 2013 Lexus GX, had gone off road where it hit a power-pole and a road approach. It then became airborne and landed in several trees.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a set of tire marks entering the ditch near a downed power-pole. The tire marks continued over two driveway approaches and into several trees. Deputies identified the driver as Patricia Klang, 77, of Cold Spring. Klang was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance. Klang was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and the airbags in her vehicle deployed. Stearns County Deputies responded to the scene and were assisted by Cold Spring Fire and Mayo Ambulance.
