Maine Prairie Township Crash

On November 2, 2023, at about 1:00 PM, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a vehicle driving recklessly on Highway 15 near County Road 147 in Maine Prairie Township. The vehicle had been reported as striking a mailbox and driving in and out of the ditch.

Deputies located the vehicle, a 2013 Ram 1500, crashed into a corn field on County Road 147 near 100^th Avenue. The vehicle had extensive damage from striking a field approach and tree before it crashed into the corn field. The driver was identified as Austin Leedom, 36, of Kimball.

Leedom was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Leedom was arrested and booked into the Stearns County Jail on suspicion of DWI.  Test results are pending, and the investigation continues.
