Crash with Injuries

On August 27, 2022, at 9:06 a.m., the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a crash with injuries located at the intersection of Roe Street and Eastern Avenue South in the city of Brooten.  The crash involved a semi and a station wagon. 

Upon arrival deputies learned that Gerald Hesse, 66, of Watkins, was traveling eastbound on Roe Street driving a semi loaded with sweet corn.  Jason Arends, 43, of Pennock, was traveling northbound on Eastern Avenue driving a Saturn station wagon when he failed to stop at the stop sign. He proceeded through the intersection and struck the semi’s trailer. Arends was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Brooten Fire, Brooten Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene.
