Two-Vehicle Crash

On March 14, 2022, at 7:23 AM, Sheriff Steve Soyka came upon a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 2 and 360th Street, just south of the city of St. Stephen. Upon arrival, one of the vehicles involved became fully engulfed in flames. It was learned that Matthew Strack, 36, of St. Stephen, was driving to work heading eastbound on 360th Street when he was unable to stop at the intersection of County Road 2 due to the snow-covered roads. Robyn Dibblee, 38, of St. Stephen, was traveling southbound on County Road 2 when she saw Strack sliding through the stop sign and into the intersection. Dibblee attempted to stop but ended up striking Strack's vehicle on the passenger side. Strack was able to extricate himself from the vehicle before it burst into flames. The affected portion of County Road 2 was temporarily closed while emergency responders, Interstate Towing and Andy’s Towing cleared the scene. Thank you to everyone who may have been affected by the road closure for your patience. St. Stephen Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance responded as well as additional Stearns County Deputies. St. Stephen Fire extinguished the fire and Mayo Ambulance personnel assessed the drivers involved in the crash. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and had their airbags deployed. Both drivers received only minor injuries as a result of the crash.  We all know Minnesota's weather is unpredictable, especially this time of year. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to give themselves that little extra bit of time when road conditions are poor.
