Grass Fire

On March 21, 2021 at 12:31 a.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call reporting a grass fire on the south side of County Road 50 near 158th Avenue in Wakefield Township. The caller estimated the fire was approximately 200 by 50 feet in size. The caller advised there were no buildings or vehicles on fire.

Both eastbound and westbound traffic on County Road 50 were shut down while the fire was extinguished due to heavy smoke blowing across the roadway.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Approximately 7 acres burned but there was no structural damage caused by the fire. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Cold Spring Police Department, and Cold Spring Fire Department assisted on scene.
