Go-Kart Crash with Injuries

On March 7, 2021 at approximately 3:21 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a go-kart crash with injuries near the intersection of Maine Street and Birch Street in St. Martin. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Martin Fire and Rescue and Allina Ambulance responded.

Upon arrival, responders located a male lying on Maine Street with a significant head injury who was complaining of pain in his chest and left leg. The male was identified as Loren Wayne Tritabaugh, 56, St. Martin. Tritabaugh was driving a homemade, barstool style go-kart which is powered by a 288-cc gas powered engine. Tritabaugh lost control of the go-kart and was thrown from the machine. He was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Allina Ambulance. Alcohol is not believed a factor in the crash.
