ATV goes through the ice on Peal Lake

On December 31, 2020 at approximately 4:37 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an ATV that had broken through thin ice on Pearl Lake in Maine Prairie Township. The ATV driver, Bruce Lundorff, 65, St. Cloud, and his grandson, Chester Lundorff, 20, St. Cloud, had been out fishing and were returning to shore on a 2001 Polaris ATV when the rear end broke though the ice. They were also towing their fish house. Both passengers were able to make it out of the water and back to shore safely. The ATV was partially submerged and was later removed by Collins Brothers Towing.

According to residents in area, the area was kept open by ducks and geese and had just frozen over earlier this week. The open area was hidden by the recent snowfall.
