Fatal Crash

Sauk Rapids man dies in motorcycle versus car crash.

On July 24, 2020 at 3:47 p.m., Stearns County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a motorcycle versus car crash at the intersection of County Road 7 and County Road 44 in St Augusta.

According to Sheriff Steve Soyka, Emma Scherbing, 16, of Foley, was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima southbound on County Road 7 and made a left-hand turn to go onto County Road 44. Ms. Scherbing turned in front of Michael Brannan, 59, of Sauk Rapids, who was northbound on County Road 7 driving a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mr. Brannan applied his brakes but was unable to stop in time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mayo Ambulance and St. Augusta Fire and Rescue assisted.

The crash remains under investigation.
