Off-Highway Motorcycle Crash

On 08/01/2018, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a report of an off-highway motorcycle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2017 Kawaski K450 had crashed on private property in St. Wendel Township.  The driver was identified as David Lee Niemi, age 51, of Elk River, MN.  Niemi was riding with a group of friends on a private motocross type track when he hit a soft patch of dirt and lost control of the motorcycle. Just prior to the crash, Niemi estimated he was traveling at 25-30 mph. Niemi suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.  Niemi was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance for further treatment.  The Stearns County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the St. Joseph Fire Department.
