Beginning March 1, paid parking will resume at Town-managed beach parks. Hilton Head Island residents with a valid 2026 Resident Beach Parking Permit may continue to park at designated beach access lots at no charge.
The renewal period for 2026 Resident Beach Parking Permits opened in December 2025, and all previous resident beach permit holders should have received a renewal prompt via email at that time.
Residents can now renew or apply for their 2026 permit, which is free for eligible Town residents. The digital permit is valid January 1 through December 31 and provides year-round access to designated beach parking areas, including permit-only spaces at Islander’s Beach Park and Driessen Beach Park. Permit holders may also park at Town beach access lots without paying metered fees.
To renew or apply, residents must provide a valid vehicle registration and proof of residency within the Town limits. Short-term rental properties are not eligible. Permits are limited to two vehicles per address.
As in previous years, parking at Chaplin Community Park will remain free on Saturdays during the youth soccer season, with paid parking expected to begin Monday, May 18. All other Town beach park lots (excluding Coligny) will begin paid parking on Sunday, March 1.
For More details and to complete your renewal or application, visit: hiltonheadislandsc.gov/our_island/beach/parking_permit.php or contact the Town at info@parkhhi.org or 843-715-3167.

The Town proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of Northpoint on Jarvis Creek on Feb. 12. This milestone marks an important step toward expanding workforce housing and strengthening our community.
Northpoint on Jarvis Creek represents more than just new homes. It reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that the people who live, work, and serve our Island have opportunities to thrive right here in Hilton Head Island. The project is the result of a public-private partnership among the Town, OneStreet Residential and RBC Community Investments.
Guided by the leadership of the Mayor, Town Council, Town Manager, and dedicated Town staff, the project has moved forward with careful planning and coordination. Upon completion, Northpoint is slated to offer 157 units on 11 acres, comprised of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with rental rates attainable for households with incomes ranging from 60 to 150 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).
This groundbreaking reminds us of what can be achieved when partnership, planning, and community come together. A huge thanks goes to Palmetto Breeze and the Coastal Discovery Museum, our community partners that helped make the celebration possible. The Town looks forward to watching Northpoint on Jarvis Creek grow into a vibrant and welcoming neighborhood.

February is Black History Month, and we’re excited to keep shining a light on the great work of the Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (CDC).
Last fall, the CDC launched a new website called Experience Gullah. It’s a one-stop shop for learning about Hilton Head Island’s Gullah Geechee communities and culture. One of the coolest features is GullahTV—a 24/7 live stream with videos about the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor, the Town’s Rowing and Sailing Center, the Gullah Museum, Mitchelville, and more. While you’re checking out the site, don’t miss GullahTV and other Black History Month events happening right here on Hilton Head Island.
