Beautiful blankets of snow. Fun photos of playful moments. Snow-covered rooftops and more. But as we head into the weekend, we encourage everyone to stay mindful of melting snow and ice build-up, especially the tricky black ice that can continue to make travel hazardous across the Island.
A heartfelt thank you to our community for your incredible efforts in limiting storm-related issues on our roads—we truly appreciate your cooperation! For everyone's safety, we urge you to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary. If you must head out, please proceed with extra caution.
Stay connected with us on social media and check our website for the latest weather updates. Warmer weather is on the way, so we’re back to normal business operations at the Town by Monday. In the meantime, stay safe and take care!

The Town is hosting meetings to gather public feedback and share information about its Districts Planning Project. Our first meeting focused on the Skull Creek District Plan. The next meeting will focus on the Parkway District Plan and is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Head Community Church, 860 William Hilton Parkway. The Bridge to Beach meeting, canceled this week due to inclement weather, will be rescheduled.
The information gathered at these meetings will help create plans for areas of the Island that are not part of the 11 largest master planned communities (Hilton Head Plantation, Palmetto Hall, Port Royal, Indigo Run, Spanish Wells, Wexford, Long Cove Club, Palmetto Dunes, Leamington, Shipyard, and Sea Pines).
The project is divided into distinct planning districts across the Island, each characterized by unique land uses, neighborhood features, accessibility, and geography. These district-specific plans will serve as a framework for guiding infrastructure investments, shaping zoning regulations, determining land use, and implementing programs and policies that influence the future of each area.
Visit hiltonheadislandsc.gov/districts/ for more information and upcoming meeting dates.

The Town of Hilton Head Island has resumed work to enhance pedestrian safety along William Hilton Parkway between Dillon and Beach City roads. Work began today and is anticipated to be completed by March 31, 2025.
The project includes installing new lighting, crosswalk striping, and rectangular rapid flashing beacons. These beacons are designed to boost pedestrian visibility and improve driver awareness at marked crosswalks without traffic control signals.
Additionally, landscaping upgrades will include the placement of new palm trees, flowering and evergreen shrubs, mulch, and fresh sod. Together, these enhancements will help improve safety and aesthetics along this corridor.
While lane closures will not be necessary, some pathways will be partially closed to accommodate the construction work. Pedestrians and motorists are encouraged to exercise caution while traveling through the work area.
The project is made possible through an intergovernmental agreement between the Town and Beaufort County, with funding provided by the Town’s Capital Improvement Program and a $600,000 grant from Beaufort County. For more information, contact Stephen Barnes, Senior Project Manager, at 843-384-9018 or StephenB@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.

Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue and the Hilton Head MLK Committee for Justice led a memorial march in honor of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Following this, the committee hosted its annual MLK Memorial Program and Fellowship Luncheon at Hilton Head Island High School. Each of these events served as an opportunity to pay tribute to Dr. King's dream and remind us that we can make a difference in the quality of our lives by serving others.
