The Town will be hosting its 14th annual Grinding of the Greens program as a way to recycle natural Christmas trees and wreaths following the holiday season.
Recycling services for both trees and holiday string lights will be available 24/7 at the following drop-off locations from Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, through Thursday, Jan.19, 2025:
- Coligny Beach (Big Parking Lot) Paved area on the South Forest Beach Side
- Old Gullah Flea Market Site (Designated area of Highway 278 and Chamberlain Drive)
- Recycling Center (Extra location for recycled lights only)
Natural Tree Recycling
This service allows the public to drop off natural Christmas trees and wreaths after the holiday season. These trees will then be ground into mulch for free use. Before dropping off any trees, check that all ornaments, lights, and garland are removed to ensure the resulting mulch is clean. When the grinding is complete, all are welcome to stop by and pick up free mulch starting Friday, January 20, until it is gone.
