On Tuesday, June 18, the Hilton Head Island Town Council voted to approve a Workforce Housing Development Agreement for an 11-acre tract of Town-owned land at Northpoint Circle. This decision followed a comprehensive analysis and legal review by the Town Council, Town Manager, Town staff, and the Town’s Northpoint Public-Private Partnership Housing Advisory Committee. This marks a critical step toward creating a sustainable workforce housing neighborhood on Hilton Head Island.
The Northpoint project reflects a public-private partnership in which the Town provides a 65-year ground lease, funds to support eligible project costs with contributions secured from the American Rescue Plan Fund, affordability covenants to maintain a workforce neighborhood in perpetuity, zoning entitlements, long-term programming support, and project vision. The Town’s development partner, OneStreet Residential, is responsible for design, permitting, financing, project management, construction, lease-up, property management, and long-term resident programming.
Over the coming months, OneStreet Residential will collaborate closely with Town leadership to finalize the next steps in the planning process, with construction targeted to commence in the fall of 2025. Construction is anticipated to last 18 months, with the first units being available to rent in late 2026.

The Breeze Trolley, Hilton Head Island's complimentary seasonal service, is taking steps to improve safety at its stops. Currently in a pilot phase, the initiative involved installing a solar-powered light atop the trolley signpost on Deallyon Road (Trolley Stop 6), where it’s especially dark after sunset. “These solar lights are specifically designed for transit operations. They are a wonderful new amenity to boost visibility and pedestrian safety. If all goes well after a six-month trial period, we hope to add solar lights at other trolley stops in darker areas,” said Brian Sullivan, the Breeze’s Director of Marketing and Communications.
Catch the Breeze
- The Breeze Trolley operates seasonally through Labor Day, seven days a week, from 1 pm to 10 pm, and until 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Trolleys arrive at each stop approximately every 30 minutes.

A group of 29 young girls spent a week in July finding out if they did at our first-ever girls' camp, hosted by our Fire Rescue Department in collaboration with the Hilton Head Island Rec Center. The response was fantastic. The five-day camp was held July 22-26, giving participants a unique opportunity to learn about firefighting and emergency medical services. Participants aged 12 to 18 engaged in firefighting drills and emergency medical scenarios and received instruction in vital life skills. The camp aimed to foster leadership, enhance confidence, build physical fitness, and strengthen mental resilience.
Kudos to our Fire Rescue team for organizing this amazing experience for young girls in our community. We're already looking forward to relaunching this program next year, and we can't wait to see more young girls join us. Check out this video to see just how awesome the week was!
