Thank you to all our Participants!
This October and November, the Town's community engagement meetings and events received over 500 responses. Due to the high amount of input received, the Parks and Recreation Commission December meeting has been cancelled to allow staff more time to review and compile the data.
At the regular Commission meeting January 14, staff will present the findings from input received through the online survey, virtual Town Hall meetings, and Open Park Day events. This will include a prioritized list of parks and recreation recommendations and proposed programming for Chaplin Community Park, Crossings Park, and the Mid Island Tract. Staff will also present for Commission review the Request for Proposal to hire a consultant who will assist with the conceptual design for the three major park projects.
Moving forward with our Parks + Recreation Part 3 effort, staff will continue to send out this newsletter on a monthly basis. Look for a link to the Commission's January meeting agenda packet in the next newsletter.
Wishing you and your family Happy Holidays!

Park Spotlight
Park Type: Sports Park
Year Opened: 1997
Location: 4 Helmsman Way
Area: 3.7+/- Acres
Key Amenities: Skate park and in-line hockey rink with basketball goals
Fun Fact: In addition to hockey, the rink is also used for futsal and box lacrosse.
Recommendations: The park could benefit from being incorporated into Crossings Park with pathway connections. Covering the rink would offer expanded recreation opportunities.
