Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our community is being asked to get creative and light up our Island from a distance. Introducing Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade-in-Place.
 |
Over the course of 3 nights (11/5, 11/6, 11/7) we are encouraging Islanders to light up their driveways, yards, balconies or doorsteps with their homemade lanterns. Let us know here if you will have a lantern on display and upload a photo. We’d love all of our neighbors to enjoy our community in volumes of light.
Chantelle’s Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons will be out each night at a different location for a drive-thru spectacle of light. So come drive by one of our stops and see her large glowing puppets on display each evening from 7-8 PM. This will be our socially distant way to celebrate!
- Thurs 11/5 @ Coastal Discovery Museum
- Fri 11/6 @ Fire Station 3 (534 William Hilton Pkwy)
- Sat 11/7 @ Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park
We will NOT be on the beach this year, but we hope to see you at our drive-thrus. Like a parade in reverse.
Come see the Great White Egrets make their Lantern Parade debut!
Over the past two years the Hilton Head Island Middle School students have created over 1000 lanterns prior to the HHI Lantern Parade.
This year as part of the Parading-In-Place drive-thru experience, the middle school will have hundreds of the lanterns created by their student body on exhibit outside the middle school for the public to drive thru and experience.
In addition to sharing their art with you, they will also be collecting donations for Deep Well prior to the holiday season. Just bring a donation with you and you can hand it out the window among the lighted love of the lanterns!
